Description

Another original RMW design from the 1970’s that we are giving new life to.

Front loading packs beat the pants off top-loaders for easy packing and access to gear. If you are one of those people who worries about zipper failure, that is not likely to happen because we use the best, heavy duty #10 YKK coil zippers and those are protected from abrasion by a weather flap that, with this design, is one piece as part of the main bag. There are also 2 compression straps that provide additional security and allow you to tighten down a partial load. The compression straps line up with the barbells on the front so for extra security it is possible to run the straps through the barbell leathers, although this isn’t necessary, some people will find comfort being able to do this. The side pockets are sleeved to allow skis to be carried on the sides. These slots are considerably wider than the original 70’s design to allow for most wide modern skis, but because of modern binding systems, only 3 pin style telemark skis will work in the sleeves. The center pocket is also our new addition to the NorthStar as well as a full foam back. The load lifters on the shoulder straps are a feature not found on other RMW packs and give additional stability to large loads that this pack is designed for. The additional new feature is the addition of a “floating” hipbelt system. This provides a complete, padded wrap-around hipbelt that provides a much more effective and comfortable transfer of weight to the hips, and it is completely removeable!!

Capacity of the pack is about 4000 cu. in. and the pack weighs 3lb 3oz; these packs are made to order, not stocked. Bomber fabric with CORDURA® brand fabric throughout on the body of the pack. We add our exclusive synthetic “corduroy” to the back for extra comfort and style.

Currently, this pack is one size only. We vary the height of the Shoulder Strap leather on the back to adjust for the user height.
